green apples and pectin

Need to thin a couple apple trees this evening. Are green apples worth saving for pectin regardless of size? Most apples will be marble to golf ball size, maybe some pool ball size.

I guess it depends how hard it is to find pectin in your local retailers. I haven't made my own pectin as it always seemed like a bit of a faff. But you might be able to make a really nice crab apple jelly from the tiny green apples?

I don't know why you shouldn't try it. I have made my own pectin from my quince and canned it. It was pretty good for two years, but failed after that. I don't know if freezing it would make it last long, but with a fresh supply every year, I would suggest if you have the time, make it fresh every year.
