My first attempt at deindustrial fiction, for JMG's last story contest. I'm still working a few bugs out of the finished story, but this is more or less the finished version.
I'm glad I attempted this, I've seen from JMG's Star's Reach and Retrotopia how useful fiction is for working together a suite of ideas into some imagined vision of the future, that would be very cumbersome to express in a nonfiction work. And not just that, I think inviting imagination to work on all these elements and express the results in a story brings in something that nonfiction doesn't address.
Anyways, here's my story, any feedback would be appreciated. Thx.
