Best Ways To Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated is an important fact of Summertime life, work or exercise. In a world made hotter by climate change this may become even more important.
Popular advice is to continuously drink lots of water, but this might not be the best thing to do. Too much water may over load your kidneys and just result in your body flushing the water right out as urine. If your urine comes out clear, then there is a good possibility you have drank too much water, too quickly.
Here is a Times article that discusses some of the other options for drinks and replacements of minerals sweated out during hot temperatures or exercise.
Why Drinking Water All Day Long Is Not the Best Way to Stay Hydrated
Bottom line seems that our body will retain water better if the water has some added food value. Drinks like milk or juices. Or drink water with a bit of food, like nuts or fruit. Also drink in smaller but more frequent amounts.
I would also point out that is you use diluted urine as a garden supplement, because of the minerals in it, then urine that doesn't have the minerals, due to over hydration won't be effective. Secondly, in situation where water is scarce, over using it when its just going to be flushed out, would be wasteful of a needed resource.
