Making Your Own Recycled Plastic Beams

How to Make Recycled BEAMS from Plastic Waste at Home

Here locally they have given up on recycling in our trash. They say its labor related, not enough people to work the sorting machines but I know China has closed their acceptance of dirty plastic from the West so the price they get might be so low they are just saying that.

Being able to convert used plastic into generic beams of common size would be very useful. Say to make raised beds, compost bins or other garden stuff. This does seem labor intensive though to melt the plastic. Also as pointed out in the comments, plastic can be fragile so adding reinforcement like a metal mesh would be needed for structural projects.

We have been using lumber to make our raised garden beds and as you might expect after a few years, it rots and needs to be replaced. However, that is probably more work then I would want to do to make raised garden beds. Even as expensive as it is now, lumber might still be cheaper then all the effort that goes into making a plastic beam.
