The Jackalope Wives, by Ursula Vernon (link)

This isn't my story (though I dearly wish I could write like this), but I read it a few days ago and its been swirling around my head since then • I dont think it'll leave until I share it.

This just might be the most evocative, if not best, piece of short fiction I've read in a looooong time. Its not specifically GW-themed, but there's an aesthetic in the story, a feeling that evokes the long decline...

Ursula Vernon is a gifted, gifted writer.
