Antibiotics and Appendicitis

After century of removing appendixes, docs find antibiotics can be enough

In a five-year follow-up, nearly two-thirds of patients never needed surgery.

Well, I'm surprised! I sure would have been scared to be in the no-surgery study group!

P.S. The comment above was written before I read the article. Upon reading I also see that recovery time after antibiotics was half that of after surgery. However, little exclamation points were rising in my brain when I read that time off was 11 days for antibiotics. 22 days for surgery. Hoyu smokes, I've never heard of even a week off for an appendectomy in the US. But then, the study was done in Finland.
