Through Disensus Is Strength
You will see me end some of my post with this sentence, "Through Disensus Is ..."
A newcomer to our community might wonder at this. They may have heard of "Consensus", which is the act of people coming to a shared view point. They may have visited forums and websites where the community has a set idea of what they feel is reality or the way the World "IS".
We here at the Green Wizard forum have a bit different way of looking at things.
Different views, makes us stronger.

When I was 18 and fresh from High School, I joined the US Army. Me, being me, I eventually was of a high enough rank to be sent to the Army's Non-Commissioned Army Academy.
The interesting thing about the Army is, its an organization that often staffed by those less suited for civilian life, I won't say slow, but its not Harvard grad material here. Those of us who rise in the ranks and find ourselves leading the people who join, have to remember that.
The Army also has a saying, "The perfect answer arrived at too late, is worse than an answer that is ok when you need it".
What this means is there is usually no 100% right answer to a problem. Trying to finding that perfect answer to a problem often times makes the situation worse, when the reality is, that the half a dozen or so options that will solve the problem, without the best outcome, are probably going to be acceptable.

Disensus is the acceptance of different view points.
We here, as Green Wizards, understand that each situation is unique. What fits for me, might not fit for you. Does that make it less right.
NO.
Does it make it any less wrong, lol, Not either.
If I asked you to put 3 nails in the wall at 5 feet from the floor, at here, here and here. And came back later, to find you holding a shoe and hammering a nail in with it, while at your foot sat a hammer.
I am not concerned about method, as much as I am concerned about result.
Let me be clear, we all are facing probably the single most challenging set of circumstances our Race has had faced. With what we are about to go through, I worry that Mankind may well not survive as a species.
Now does that mean I am going to complain if you wrap your duct trap right handed or left handed?
Ohhhh Great Spirit, give me strength, lol.

The political race of 2016 has highlighted the vast difference among people here in the US.
Truthfully I don't care. You can be a Trump supporter or a Clinton fan.
The one thing I do care, and firmly support, is the clear understanding that no matter our differences, we accept that we can both be right and we can both be wrong.
I doubt who won the most recent election will matter much in 300 years.
We can though discuss how best to can, how to grow plants, how to winterize and improve our homes.
Let us seek common ground while accepting we might disagree from time to time.

on disagreement
I think most of us on this forum live with disagreement every day.
The general consensus in my world, is that everything is just fine, it's so pervasive that I find myself going along to get along.
There may be a few disagreements on this forum but on the whole I can find something interesting and informative in every post...though I will say the technical information is way over my head.
Am I missing some disagreements that has been going on here?....besides the US election of course. I do see heated discussions on the other boards I frequent.
As you say what is happening now in the politics around the world doesn't really matter in the great scheme of things. I just look upon it as the change that is coming.....and we all knew it would happen
Just keep chopping wood and carrying the water....or in my case knitting socks and growing seeds.

That's a good thing for me to keep in mind.
