My introduction

Hello! I am fairly new to Green Wizardry but I am interested in learning more about sustainable lifestyles and becoming more resilient. I live in a fairly dilapidated home in Deplorable country on about a half acre of land. I've never grown much of anything and have few of the skills a respectable Green Wizard probably ought to have. My yard is full of intriguing weeds I am learning to identify, my soil seems to be very favorable for the growth of burdock, Queen's Rocket, pokeweed, and plantain.

I found JMG's work through occultism as opposed to his ecological or peak oil writing (when I found out the author of Paths of Wisdom was a prominent peak oil blogger my mind was well and truly blown). I apologize if my introduction is rambling or incoherent I am suffering from a spot of insomnia right now!

Welcome to the community. Don't apologize for starting small, not everyone can be an expert in all things. That's one good thing about Greer's idea of Green Wizards, and is the reason I chose a maze with many paths to the center as the logo of the site. You literally can be a good Green Wizard and have the "black thumb of garden death", lol.

Green Wizards to me, is having the mind set that resilience and adaptability are useful traits to develop in one's self.

And having half an acre isn't a small thing, even if its a burdock farm. You can do a lot with weeds and low input gardening.

Thanks David, I'm looking forward to having a look around the site!

I don't know if you know that burdock is edible, so is plantain and maybe some of the others are as well. You would seem to be in a climate area that I am not that familiar with. Good luck and feel free to ask questions as you go along.

HI! I am located in southwest Michigan by the Indiana border. I have done a fair amount of research on the weeds growing in my yard, I was pretty surprised by how many uses burdock has in herbalism. I haven't tried to eat any just yet but maybe I'll give it a try.

Don't worry about starting small.
We all do!

Moreover, no one can do everything. That's why you need a community.
Start small and learn as you go.

Good luck on your journey.

Thank you, that's reassuring. I know I have quite a ways to go but I'm excited to get started (and hopeful it's not too late!)
